Old man’s body found in Vishwanath after 2 days of disappearance

The body of an old man named Siraj Mia (55) was recovered after 2 days after he went missing in Sylhet’s Vishwanath. The house of the deceased is in Rampasha (Konapar) village of the upazila.

On Thursday (November 9th) at noon, the locals informed the police after seeing the dead body lying on the road of Hossainpur village of Khajanchi Union, and the police came and recovered the dead body.

According to the family sources of deceased Siraj Mia, he was missing since November 7 last Tuesday. Son Kadar Ali lodged a complaint at Biswanath police station on November 8 night regarding the disappearance. After that he was not found in all possible places.

Sajal Mia and Jiban Mia, sons of deceased Siraj Mia, claim that their father was killed in a planned manner. They said that their father hired a poor girl from their village as a maid in a house in Sylhet a few months ago. The girl disappeared from there. The family pressured Siraj Mia to return the girl. When Siraj Mia went out in search of her missing daughter, she never returned home.

Meanwhile, Osmaninagar Additional SP Ashrafuzzaman and Biswanath Police Station OC Rama Prasad Chakraborty visited the spot. Police initially believed that Siraj Mia had committed suicide.

The body has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Hospital morgue for postmortem. After receiving the report, it can be confirmed that it was a suicide or a planned murder.
