The blockade of like-minded opposition parties including BNP called for the third phase will end tomorrow Friday (November 10) at 6 am. Before that, Awami League leaders and activists were seen taking position in front of the central office on Bangabandhu Avenue from Thursday morning. Besides taking a stand, they raised slogans against BNP and blockade.
Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, City Awami League General Secretary Humayun Kabir, leaders and activists from different levels of the city are standing in front of the party’s central office. They were joined by Awami League presidium member and Dhaka-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Advocate Kamrul Islam.
BNP has called for the third phase of the blockade to demand the next election under a non-partisan, impartial government after the collapse of the Awami League government on November 6. The 48-hour blockade will end tomorrow Friday at 6 am.
Earlier, several opposition parties, including BNP, started a three-day blockade of roads, railways and waterways across the country from 6 am on October 31. On the last day of the three-day blockade, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced another total blockade of 48 hours on November 2. The blockade of the second phase is ending. The third phase of the blockade started from 6 am yesterday on Wednesday.
