Dhaka: The police recovered the naked body of a transport worker named Abdul Khalek (50) from his house in Sayedabad of the capital. The police believe that miscreants killed him two to three days ago.
On Thursday (November 9) after receiving the news around noon, Jatrabari police station recovered the body from a room on the fifth floor of a multi-storied building in Syedabad Sardar Gali.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mofizul Alam confirmed the truth of the incident.
He said that Abdul Khalek used to rent a room in that five-storey building alone. Going to the spot, it was found that the body of the deceased had no clothes. In addition, some parts of the body, including the head, show signs of injury.
The OC also said that it is believed that the miscreants killed him two to three days ago and locked the front door from inside and escaped through the back door. The incident is being investigated.
Abdul Khalek’s colleague Enamul Haque said that Abdul Khalek was unmarried. He lived alone in a room on the fifth floor of that house. Abdul Khalek used to work online at Sujan Paribahan on Dhaka-Chittagong road. He was a member of Transport Workers Union. Abdul Khalek’s mobile phone was given from Sujan Paribahan last day. Despite repeated calls, there was no response. Later today he went to his rented house and found the door locked from inside. After calling many times, he reported to the police without getting any response. Later the police came and recovered the body.
Enamul also said that Abdul Khalek’s house is in Natore district.
