Irina has been missing since Tuesday evening. She is the daughter of Asad Mia of Tepirbari village of Telihati union of the upazila. Irina used to live with her parents in Rubel Mia’s house in Channapara area of Ward No. 7 of Sreepur Municipality. On Thursday (November 9) in the afternoon, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur police station, Abul Fazal Md. Nasim gave this information. Samia Akhter (15) is the daughter of Abu Bakr of Sirajganj. He lives with his mother in the house of Sahab Uddin Bhutto in Channapara area of Ward No. 7 of Sreepur Municipality. His father runs a brick-sand business.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station Abul Fazal Md. Nasim said that Irina’s father filed a general diary (GD) regarding the disappearance at Sreepur police station on Tuesday. The body of child Irina was recovered from under the bed of Payara Begum’s (40) rented house after investigating in terms of GD. At that time, the child’s face was tied with scotch tape and his throat was cut. In this incident, Sripur Thana police detained Samia Akhtar and her mother Payara Begum for questioning on Wednesday (November 8) evening.
The police did not want to give any more information in the interest of the investigation. On Wednesday, the child’s father, Asad Mia, filed a kidnapping case (No-4) accusing unknown 2/3 persons.
Irina’s father, Asad Mia, said that on Tuesday afternoon, two neighboring girls took Irina away from home saying that they were going to get married. At that time, baby Irina had a gold chain and earrings around her neck. As the girl didn’t come home even after night, she started searching in all possible places. Not being able to find the girl, he lodged a complaint with the police station that night. That night, the police investigation revealed two suspects. Later, the police recovered the body of the baby Irina from under the bed in a room of the two’s house. The child’s father claimed that his daughter was killed to steal her gold chain and earrings.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station Abul Fazal Md. Nasim said, ‘The body has been recovered and sent to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Two suspects involved in the incident have been detained and are being interrogated.
