The police have arrested the bus driver in connection with the death of 2 people and 4 injuries when a passenger bus was hit by a passenger bus in Rangamati city’s Bhedvedi market.
District Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Maruf Ahmed gave this information in a press conference organized at Rangamati District Superintendent of Police office on Thursday.
The arrested bus driver’s name is Nurul Abhar. Last Wednesday night, the police arrested him from Panchlaish Thana area of Chittagong using information technology.
In a press conference, Maruf Ahmed said that on November 4, a reckless passenger bus hit a standing CNG (autorickshaw) from behind in Bhedvedi area of Rangamati city. Two women died on the spot and 4 people were injured.
Soon after the incident, the bus driver escaped and on November 8, the police using information technology, Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell and Kotwali Thana Police raided Jamiatul Sunnia Madrasa area under Panchlaish Thana, Chittagong and arrested Nurul Abshar. It is reported that a case has been filed under the Road Transport Act.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shahnewaz Raju, Additional Superintendent of Police of Sadar Circle Zahidul Islam, OC of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station Md. Arifur Amin were also present in the press conference.
