A laborer named Mohammad Tufail Uddin (25) died after being crushed by the wall while demolishing the abandoned wall of a shop in Chakaria upazila.
The incident took place at Katakhali Rakhine Para area in Harbang Union on Thursday (November 9) around 11 o’clock.
Md. Tufail Uddin is the son of Nuruzzaman of Naya Para Ward No. 3 of Harbang Union of Upazila.
Eyewitnesses said that while breaking the wall of a rich shop owned by a businessman named Mankyaj Rakhine in Harbang area, the accident happened when the wall was accidentally crushed. Recently, the shop of Ala Uddin, a businessman in Harbang Rakhinepara area, was damaged by the natural disaster Cyclone Hamun. Later, shop owner Mankyaj Rakhine assigned six workers to demolish the abandoned wall of the shop. Tofail Uddin accidentally broke the abandoned shop when the wall fell on him.
Later the locals rescued him and took him to Baritli Mother and Child Hospital (Pvt.) Limited at the head of Baritli New Road, where the doctor on duty in the emergency department declared him dead.
In this regard, Harbang police outpost in-charge (SI) Md. Jahangir Alam went to the spot and confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the body has been handed over to the family after completing the legal process.
