Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal removed himself from the World Cup team after various dramatic actions. He is not returning to the national team immediately. A source of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that Tamim will not be there for the two Tests against New Zealand.

Bangladesh is coming to New Zealand to play two Tests after the World Cup. The two Tests are scheduled to start in Sylhet from November 28 and in Dhaka from December 6. But before that, the Bangladesh squad is scheduled to be announced on November 20. Bangladesh chief selector Minajul Abedin Nannu could not give any update about Tamim’s presence in that squad.

Talking to The Daily Star over phone, Nannu said, ‘There is no update so far so I can’t really say anything.’ However, a BCB official said that Tamim has contacted the board and informed about his absence.

A senior BCB official told The Daily Star on condition of anonymity, “He (Tamim) told us that he has not been practicing for the past one month. As she has not worked or done any preparation, she will not be available in the series. He will let us know his next steps later.’

It should be noted that after leaving the World Cup team, Tamim is not playing in the ongoing National Cricket League this season.
