Two motorcycle riders, one of whom was a leader of the National Assembly of Mass Solidarity Movement, were killed when a truck ran over them in New Eskaton area of ​​the capital.

After 12 o’clock on Tuesday night, the accident happened on the side of the road before going to the flyover from Banglamotor to Moghbazar, said the OC of Hatirjheel police station. Awlad Hossain said.

The deceased Ariful Islam (40) and Sauvik Karim (42) were both residents of Iskaton.

Among them, Arif was the former Central President of Bangladesh Students Federation and National Council leader of Mass Solidarity Movement. And Souvik is the former leader of the Dhaka University branch of students’ federation.

OC Awlad Hossain said that the National Emergency Service number 999 was called at night and the police station was told that two bikers’ bodies were lying on the road.

Quoting eyewitnesses, the OC said, “Two died on the spot when a truck ran over them. But the truck escaped. Attempts are being made to identify the truck by looking at the closed circuit (CC) camera video of the spot.”

The police officer said that two bodies were recovered and sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for post-mortem.

Relatives said that Arif and Souvik’s funeral will be held at Iskaton Garden Mosque after Zohar on Wednesday. Later they will be buried at Azimpur graveyard.
