Another 48-hour strike called by like-minded political parties and alliances including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami is starting from today. The third phase of the blockade will continue from 6 am to 6 am on Friday. They will carry out a nationwide blockade program including roads, railways, waterways and highways. The parties have made extensive preparations on the occasion of this program. The responsible leaders of BNP and Jamaat have given various directions to successfully block the party leaders and activists especially in the organizational district. Both parties have instructed them to carry out the program peacefully and cautiously. Newspaper cars, ambulances, oxygen cylinder cars and emergency medicine transport will be exempted from the blockade.
After the hartal, BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami held a nationwide blockade for 3 consecutive days. Later, in the second round, the same program of 48 hours was observed. which ends at 6 am on Tuesday.
Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called upon the countrymen including leaders and activists of all levels to successfully complete the 48-hour blockade program from today. Urging everyone to observe the blockade program cautiously, he said, ‘Go down the roads and highways and carry out the blockade program peacefully. The government can subvert its responsibility. Be careful of that. This blockade program is for the peace of all. Wherever there is an obstacle, resistance must be built. I am in the field to restore people’s voting rights. No one is safe. This program must be successful. Or leave the country. Or should be a citizen as a second class citizen. But in the history of the people of the country, they have never lived like this. Fakir revolt, peasant revolt, Santal movement took place here. Such revolutions continue to inspire us today. So the people will decide again who will be the ruler of the country?’
In a press statement, Acting Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Ma’hum urged the countrymen to spontaneously participate in all anti-government programs and said that the government cannot fall into any kind of trap. Always be wary of government machinations. The agitation should continue till the election caretaker government is established. In a separate statement, the general secretary of JSD, Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, coordinator of the Democracy Forum, said that the government is afraid of the spontaneous participation of the people in the peaceful program of the opposition party.
