District BNP has called a full day strike in Cox’s Bazar today to protest the killing of BNP leader Jagir Hossain in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
Cox’s Bazar District BNP President Shahjahan Chowdhury and General Secretary Advocate Shamim Ara Sapna said in a press release yesterday afternoon that on the night of November 5, upazila BNP General Secretary Sultan Mahmud Chowdhury’s residence in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, RAB, police and armed workers of Awami League jointly went to the house and ransacked the house without finding him. and opened fire on the villagers. Three BNP activists were shot and seriously injured. Among the injured, local BNP leader Jagir Hossain (37) died in a Chittagong hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased Jagir Hossain is the son of Mohammad Alam of Painashia village of Jaliapalong union of Ukhia upazila and former youth party leader and co-organizing secretary of ward number 1 of the current union.
In a statement, the leaders announced a morning-evening hartal today in Cox’s Bazar district in protest against the indiscriminate firing by the law enforcement forces on the activists in the democratic movement. In the statement, the leaders said that a BNP leader was shot dead by armed terrorists of Awami League and law enforcement forces in Cox’s Bazar district. Two people were injured. Apart from this, after October 28, 55 BNP activists were arrested by filing a case in various police stations.
