The police recovered the body of Zainal Abedin from the house of Zainal Abedin in North Bandar area of Bairag Union of the upazila on Monday night.
Nasreen is the daughter of Abdul Chabur of Fateh Ali’s house in Barshat Union of Upazila.

Nasreen’s brother Mohammad Parvez said that Nasreen got married to Zainal Abedin two and a half years ago. They married for love. They have a one and a half year old son. Within a few months of marriage, family members including husband and mother-in-law used to torture them mentally and physically.
Parvez said, ‘Sister spoke to me on video call even on Monday evening. Around 9 pm the news came, my sister had committed suicide. They killed my sister in a planned way.’
Zamir Uddin, member of Barshat UP, said, “After marriage, family members including husband and mother-in-law used to torture her mentally and physically. Several meetings were held between their families. We solved it by meeting socially.’
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station. Zahir Hossain said, ‘In connection with the death of a housewife named Nasreen, a case has been filed against three accused in the police station for inciting suicide. Police have arrested the husband and mother-in-law. Further legal action will be taken after the post-mortem report comes in.’
