In the last month of October, about 1500 fires have occurred across the country. 10 people died in these incidents.
The fire service released the department-wise fire and casualty figures for October in a release on Tuesday.
Apart from fire, there were 846 accidents including road accidents, drowning, elevator breakdowns across the country. Most of these accidents happened on the road. In addition to fire, Dhaka Division is also at the top in other accidents.
Analyzing the data received from all over the country, the fire service says that the number of fires in the country in October was 1,475; 10 people died, 27 people were injured.
Monthly statistics showed that fire incidents decreased in October compared to September. In September, the number was 1,557.
The situation in Dhaka
According to the fire service, out of 1,475 fires across the country, Dhaka division has the highest number of 501 fires. Out of this, 163 fires took place in the city corporation area.
Most of the fires have occurred in Mirpur. In October, the Fire Service received reports of an average of more than 5 fires per day in Dhaka.
22 in Mirpur of the capital; 13 in Mohammadpur; 9 in Demra; 12 in Tejgaon; 9 in Baridhara; 10 in Uttara; Fire Service has registered 10 fire incidents in Postagola. Also there were fires in some other areas.
Section wise fire
501 fire incidents occurred in Dhaka, 239 in Chittagong, 55 in Mymensingh, 213 in Rajshahi, 149 in Khulna, 59 in Sylhet, 66 in Barisal and 193 in Rangpur division.
Other Accidents
In addition to fires, the fire service participated in rescue operations in 846 different types of accidents across the country in October.
Among them, 690 road accidents occurred. Apart from this, there were 39 accidents due to kitchen gas cylinder, 13 accidents due to fault in gas line, 21 elevator accidents, 3 lightning accidents, 58 accidents due to drowning in rivers and water.
167 people died in these accidents, 830 were injured.
According to the fire service, 38 people have died due to drowning in rivers, ponds or water in the country this month.
Out of 846 different types of accidents in the country, 193 accidents occurred in Dhaka Division and 44 accidents in Dhaka City Corporation area, where fire service participated in the rescue work.
Besides, 47 accidents occurred in Mymensingh Division, 120 in Chittagong, 222 in Rajshahi, 96 in Khulna, 35 in Sylhet, 40 in Barisal and 93 in Rangpur Division.
