The sixth meeting of the Wage Board is likely to decide the new wages of garment workers today. However, the sum of money is not finalized yet. The final decision can be made at the office of the labor board at Segunbagicha in the capital. The board includes factory owners-workers and government representatives. Asked to be present at the office by 11 am on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the production of garment factories in various industrial areas including Mirpur, Ashulia in Dhaka has returned to normal. In the face of the movement, the government and the owners took the initiative to quickly finish the process of determining the new wages of the workers. Earlier, the government constituted the Minimum Wage Board last April to fix the wages of garment workers. In the fourth meeting of the board on October 22, the representative of the labor side proposed a minimum wage of Tk 20 thousand 393. On the other hand, the owner offers about half, i.e. 10 thousand 400 rupees. Angry at this wage proposal of the owner, the workers went on strike the next day. First, the movement demanding increase in wages started in Gazipur, but later it spread to Ashulia-Savara. Garment workers have been agitating for wage hike for the past few days. At this time there was also an incident of setting fire to the factory. Apart from this, the protesting workers also claimed that one worker was shot dead during the clash with the police.
