A station master died after being crushed under Burimari-bound Karatoya Express at Mahimaganj station in Gobindganj, Gaibandhar.

This incident took place at Mahimaganj station at 11 am on Tuesday. The deceased station master Abdus Sobhan (76) was a contractual station master at this station. After his retirement, he used to work on contract at this station, said Sohag Khan, station master of the same station.

He told The Daily Star, ‘After finishing duty in the morning, Abdus Sobhan was boarding the Burimari-bound Karatoya Express train (Intercity 713) to his home in Gaibandha when he slipped and fell under the train. At that time, his right hand and right leg fell under the wheels of the train and were severed. Later he was sent to local upazila hospital and after first treatment he was sent to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College.

Sohag said that Abdus Sobhan and 2 other station masters work in this station.

A SI of Bogra Medical Outpost. Yusuf Ali told The Daily Star, ‘Station Master Abdus Sobhan was brought alive to the hospital around 1 pm. He died under treatment 10 minutes ago (1:20 am).
