The road has become impassable due to the collapse of one side of the road adjacent to Sasha Bridge in Laskardia Union of Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur.
Thousands of people from several upazilas travel on the road every day, various types of vehicles including buses, trucks, auto-rickshaws are plying at risk.
The Faridpur Road Department had repaired the collapsed road a few months ago. Hasty renovations were carried out in the dark of night and collapsed again within a week.
Motorists, pedestrians and locals say major accidents can happen anytime if the road is not repaired soon.
Kawsar Matubbar, a truck driver, said that while driving through there, I felt like I fell into the ditch with the car.
Laskardia Union Parishad Chairman Habibur Rahman Babul Talukder said that the condition of the road is very dangerous at two places, the road needs to be renovated urgently.
Nagarkanda Upazila Chairman Moniruzzaman Sardar said, I have to come from home to Upazila Parishad through this road every day, I actually travel there with fear in my heart. Inside the mind is when the car overturns and falls into the ditch.
Faridpur Road Department Executive Engineer Md. Imran Farhan Sumail told Inkilab that the road collapsed due to sliding in the canal. Although it was repaired a few months ago, it collapsed again in the rain. The road will be leveled soon to make it suitable for traffic.
