Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) Chief Additional Police Commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman said that BNP’s general meeting was held on October 28 in Naya Paltan of the capital. Central leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal were directed to break the morale of the police by attacking the police. If necessary, they wanted to create an unstable environment in the country by killing one or more policemen. They wanted to create a new issue. On this basis, Police Constable Amirul Haque Parvez was killed in Naya Paltan clash that day.
He said this at a press conference at DMP’s media center on Tuesday (November 7) at noon. Earlier on Monday (November 6) night, Aman Ullah Aman, the main accused in Parvez’s murder case, was arrested from the area adjacent to Mohakhali bus stand. According to the police, he was the main leader in the attack on the killing of policemen at the BNP rally.
Aman is the joint general secretary of Central Chhatra Dal and former member secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal.
Md. Asaduzzaman said, ‘On October 28, on the instructions of the central leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal, Aman and his followers stood next to the stage of the rally in Naya Paltan. The central leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal on stage were directed to break the morale of the police by attacking the police.
Claiming that the attack was carried out on the instructions of the central leaders, the CTTC chief said, ‘When the BNP workers attacked the police at Kakrail intersection, a clash arose between the police and the protesters. Central leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal took advantage of the clash and ordered an attack on the police. On receiving instructions, Aman proceeded to attack the police with a large section of the Chhatra Dal through the lane next to the Victory Hotel next to the BNP party office in Naya Paltan. They already knew about the location of the policemen in charge of the rally. He continued to advance with the group.’
He said, ‘A part of the party came in front of the Paltan Tower and went towards the Vijay Nagar water tank at the western end of the box culvert road. The other section headed by Aman moved towards the earlier end of the box culvert road. After reaching the western end of Box Culvert Road, Chhatra Dal workers ambushed the policemen on duty there. To assist those policemen in the front end the policemen came to the west side of the box culvert road. At that time, the police team coming towards the west under the leadership and guidance of Aman was attacked.
Mentioning that the police refrained from using weapons and showed maximum tolerance to protect lives and property, he further said, ‘This section of the student group started pelting bricks and stones on the police under the leadership of Aman. In order to defend themselves, the police tried to repel the Chhatra Dal attack by throwing tear shells.

Asaduzzaman said, ‘At this stage, a large part of the policemen took up position in the DR Tower and nearby establishments located on the east side of Box Culvert Road. In this situation, Aman’s followers, led by him, continued to throw stones and bricks to attack the policemen. Parvez collapsed on the road after being hit by a scattered brick. At this time, he was continuously hit with a stick to kill him.
“Parvez lost consciousness and the frozen body was lying on the road in a bloody state,” he said. He suffered severe bleeding from head to toe. Protesters brutally beat his frozen body to ensure death. After confirming the death, Aman left the spot with his followers along the western side of Box Culvert Road.’
