Nadira Begum, singer of folk songs and bhavaiya songs, heroic freedom fighter is no more.

He died while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital at 9:30 pm on Monday. This artist was 75 years old.

Lyricist, composer and organizer AKM Mostafizur Rahman told bdnews24.com, “Nadira Begum is a talented musician and teacher of this country. He taught in Govt Music College. Chayanot has taught at Sangeet Vidyayatan. He is one of the famous singers of Bhavaya songs.

“I rushed to the hospital after hearing about his death. Talking to relatives, I learned that he was not responding since Monday afternoon. The doctor later declared him dead at 9:30 pm.”

The body of Nadira Begum was taken to the Government Music College in Agargaon that night. The relatives of Nadira Begum took the body of Nadira Begum to the village home Joypurhat after the funeral at Mirpur 60 feet Jhilpar Mosque. He will be buried there.

Nadira Begum, daughter of AKM Abdul Aziz, the lyricist and composer of the famous ‘Call Call Chal Chal Nadi Kare Talmal’ song, was enlisted as a music artist in radio in 1960. He served as the President of Bhavaya Academy for a long time.
