The highest number of fire incidents (22) occurred in Mirpur of the capital.
Fire Service and Civil Defense reported that an average of five fires occurred in Dhaka city every day during the month of October, most of which occurred in the Mirpur area.
A press release sent by the Fire Service and Civil Defense Media Cell on Tuesday (November 7) said, “In October this year, 1,475 fire incidents took place across the country. 27 people were injured and 10 people were killed across the country. Among them, in the Dhaka City Corporation area. 163 fire incidents occurred.”
In the notification, out of 1,475 fires across the country, 501 fire incidents occurred in Dhaka Division, 55 in Mymensingh Division, 239 in Chittagong Division, 213 in Rajshahi Division, 149 in Khulna Division, 59 in Sylhet Division, 66 in Barisal Division and 193 in Rangpur Division.
Among them, 15 people were injured and 3 people were killed in 163 fire incidents in Dhaka City Corporation area.
However, the monthly statistics showed that there was a decrease in fire incidents in October compared to September. There were 1,557 fires in September.
According to the statistics, the highest number of fire incidents occurred in Mirpur (22) in the capital.
Besides, 13 fire incidents occurred in Mohammadpur, 9 in Demra, 12 in Tejgaon, 9 in Baridhara, 10 in Uttara, 10 in Postgola.
It was also reported that in the month of October, fire service and civil defense participated in rescue operations in 846 different types of accidents across the country. 830 people were injured and 167 were killed, of which 690 were road accidents.
Besides, there were 39 kitchen gas cylinder accidents, 13 gas line malfunctions, 21 elevator accidents, 3 lightning strikes, and 58 river and water drowning accidents. 38 people died by drowning in rivers, ponds or water across the country.
