The Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of the police has arrested Chhatra Dal Central Committee Joint General Secretary Aman Ullah Aman for allegedly ‘leading’ the killing of police constable Amirul Haque Parvez in the clashes surrounding the BNP rally.

It was informed in a press conference on Tuesday that he was arrested from Mohakhali bus stand area of ​​Dhaka on Monday afternoon.

On October 28, during the general meeting of BNP in Naya Paltan, party workers clashed with the police in Kakrail. Later it spread to the surrounding areas. Police constable Amirul Haque Parvez was beaten to death in that clash.

In this incident, SI Masuk Miah of Mirpur Division of Detective Police registered a case against 164 people including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Paltan police station that night. The police arrested some people and remanded them.

The latest arrest is the central joint general secretary of the Chhatra Dal, Aman, former member secretary of the Dhaka University Chhatra Dal. CTTC chief Asaduzzaman commented that he also gave a description of the incident that day during the initial interrogation.

He said, “Aman said that on the day of the rally, he stood next to the platform in Naya Paltan with his followers on the instructions of the central leaders of the Chhatra Dal. The central leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal on the stage were instructed to break the morale of the police through brutal and brutal attacks on the police. Creating an unstable environment in the country by killing one or more policemen if necessary, thereby creating a new issue.”

This police officer said that the clash started when the BNP workers who came to the rally attacked the police in Kakrail.

“On that occasion, on the orders of BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders, Aman marched with a large section of Chhatra Dal to attack the police in Naya Paltan near BNP’s party office through the alleys next to various hotels. They already knew about the location of the policemen on duty at the rally.”

The CTTC chief said a section of Chhatra Dal workers went in front of Paltan Tower towards the Vijay Nagar water tank at the west end of Calvert Road. The other section headed towards the eastern end of Calvert Road led by Aman.

“After reaching the west end of Calvert Road, the Chhatra Dal workers ambushed the policemen on duty there. The policemen from the east side then proceeded to the west side of Calvert Road to help the policemen on duty at the west end of the culvert. Aman led and guided the police team coming from the west side. The attack began.

“That part of the student group started throwing bricks and stones at the police under the leadership of Aman. In self-defence, the policemen tried to repel the Chhatra Dal attack by firing tear shells.”

Asaduzzaman said, “To protect property and reduce damage, policemen refrained from using lethal weapons and showed maximum tolerance. At one point, a large number of police personnel occupied the DR Tower on the east side of Calvert Road and surrounding structures.

“In this situation, Aman’s followers, led by him, continued to pelt bricks and mortars to attack the policemen. When police constable Amirul Islam Parvez fell down on the road after being hit by a loose brick, they continued to hit him very brutally with sticks with the intention of killing him. At one point, Constable Amirul Islam Parvez lost consciousness and his frozen body was lying on the road in a bloody state.”

The CTTC chief said the attackers also ‘brutally beat’ the frozen body of Constable Parvez to ensure his death.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Ameer Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Nipun Roy, Aminul Haque, Habibun Nabi Khan, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, SM Jilani, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Shamsur are among the accused in this case. Rahman Shimul Biswas, Tabith Awal, Rafiqul Islam Mahatab, Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, Engineer Ishrak, Rashed Iqbal Khan, Saif Mahmud Jewel, Kazi Rawanakul Haque Shravan and other leaders of BNP and allied organizations are there.
