The Israeli army has continued to attack hospitals in Gaza, Palestine, in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. In addition to civilians, medical workers are also being injured in the attack. Al Jazeera news.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that at least 8 people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli attack on the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza City.
Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital, Rantisi Specialized Hospital, Ophthalmic Hospital and Psychiatric Hospital suffered direct and indirect hits from Israeli missiles, the statement added.
Jamil Suleiman, general director of the psychiatric hospital, said, “The UN Security Council or the World Health Organization will not be of any use if Israel continues to attack hospitals in Gaza.”
Jamil Suleman also said, ‘If there is no guarantee of a patient’s right to treatment, there is no point in having an international health organization. Where a population is being brutally killed.’
On October 7, when the Palestinian independence group Hamas attacked Israel, 1,400 people were killed. After that, the Israeli military launched a counterattack in Haza targeting Hamas. The Ministry of Health of Gaza said that more than 10,000 Palestinians, including more than 4,000 children, were killed in the Israeli attack. Israeli forces continue to attack Gaza indiscriminately.
Relief workers are not left out of the conflict. Since October 7, 88 UNRWA staff members have been killed. This is a record for the number of UN personnel killed in a single conflict.
In addition, 175 medical workers and 34 civil defense workers have been killed by Israel’s attacks in this month-long conflict, according to Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Qaila.
Earlier, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Palestine, Francesca Albanese, described the collapse of Gaza’s health system as a ‘catastrophe’.
