Shahjahan Ali Moral (55), Chairman of Gadkhali Union Parishad of Jessore’s Jhikargacha Upazila, was killed by a train. The accident happened on Tuesday (November 7) at around 6:30 am on the railway line near the land of one Amirul of Syedpara village of Jhikargacha upazila.
Benapole Railway Police in-charge SI Abdur Rashid said that the UP chairman died after being hit by the Benapole-bound Benapole Express from Dhaka.
Sheikh Anarul Islam, a member of Gadkhali Union Parishad, said that Chairman Shahjahan Ali Moral woke up early in the morning and went out for a morning walk like every day. On Tuesday morning, he left his house and was going to the market for a morning walk over the Syedpara railway line. At that time, he was killed on the spot by a train coming from behind. Later, the locals saw the chairman lying beside the railway line and informed the police and the people nearby. However, the locals are not able to say which train the accident happened.
Jhikargacha Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Salim Reza went to the deceased’s house early in the morning and took some pictures from there and uploaded them on his Facebook account.
Jhikargacha police station OC Suman Bhakta contacted him several times but he did not receive it.
Abdur Rashid, in-charge of Benapole Railway Police said, Benapole Express was going to Benapole from Dhaka at around 6:30 am. UP Chairman Shah Jahan was walking on the railway line. At that time, he was hit by the train from behind and fell on the side of the railway line. His forehead, chest, arms and legs were injured everywhere. UP Chairman’s right leg is broken. After reporting the situation, the body will be sent to Jessore General Hospital morgue for post-mortem through the concerned authorities.
