After the continuous unrest of last few days, the wage board is going to announce the new salary structure for the garment workers.
This announcement is expected to come from the meeting of the board at the minimum wage board office in Segunbagicha of the capital today, Tuesday at 11 am.

The garment workers have been protesting for more than 11 days demanding minimum wage of 23 thousand rupees.
Minister of State for Labor and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian told a press conference last Thursday that the new salary structure will be announced in the sixth round of the Wage Board meeting.
This meeting is supposed to be held today.
The state minister has also hinted at the introduction of ration cards for garment workers so that they can buy daily commodities at low prices.
However, the salary amount proposed by the ministry is not known.
Siddiqur Rahman, the representative of the garment factory owners in the wage board, told the Daily Star, “Initially, the workers will be given family cards in addition to the increased salary.”
He said, later the workers will be given ration cards, so that they can buy daily necessities at low prices.
However, he did not agree to comment on the minimum wage amount to be determined in the board meeting today.
Nazma Akhtar, president of Combined Garments Workers Federation, told Daily Star, “Government giving family card or ration card to workers is a very good initiative.”
Sirajul Islam, labor representative at the Wage Board, told the Daily Star, ‘It is expected that the new wage structure will be announced today.’
However, he did not comment on the amount of minimum wage.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Farooq Hasan told Daily Star, ‘We want to fix the salary quickly as the sector is suffering due to the recent unrest.’
He said that yesterday some workers protested in front of some factories in Konabari area of Gazipur to demand increase in salary.
