Four people were killed and at least 15 injured in a collision between a bus-pickup van and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh’s Shikarikanda. Eight seriously injured people have been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The casualty was not immediately identified.
The accident happened on Monday (November 6) around 12:30 pm.
Kotyali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Kamal Akand confirmed the matter and said, ‘A bus going from Dhaka to Sherpur hit a pickup van and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw while overtaking at Shikarikanda around 12:30 pm. The pickup van overturned on the side of the highway and the bus lost control and hit the billboard pillar. The billboard fell on the pickup van and the bus got stuck on the road divider. The front part of the bus was twisted. Two died on the spot. On receiving the news, local residents, policemen and fire service personnel quickly reached the spot and rescued 15 seriously injured people while two others died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Due to the accident, traffic on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was stopped for an hour.
