The court has postponed the date of presentation of arguments of the state side in the case of killing of physician leader Narayan Chandra Dutt Nitai in Banani of the capital to November 21.
The case was for presentation of arguments in the court of Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 on Monday (November 6). However, the authorities did not produce the accused from the jail for the blockade called by BNP-Jamaate-e-Islami. For this reason, the court fixed November 21 as the next argument date.
Azad Rahman, the lawyer of the concerned state, confirmed this information.
The defendants in the case are Dr. Nitai driver Kamrul Hasan Arun, Masum Mintu alias Mintu alias Bargira Mintu, Masum alias Pada Masum, Rafiqul Islam, Saeed Bepari, Bakul Mia, Md. Said Mizi, Md. Abul Kalam aka Picchi Kalam, Saidul and Faisal. All of them are in jail.
On August 23, 2012, Dr. Mahakhali Chest Hospital was killed in his own home. Nitai Dr. in this incident. Nitai’s father immediately filed a case at Banani police station that day.
On February 11, 2013, the investigating officer of the case, Inspector Gazi Ataur Rahman of the Metropolitan Detective Police, submitted the charge sheet to the court against the 10 accused.
In the charge sheet, the investigating officer said that while stealing, Dr. Nitai Chandra was killed. Mintu, Rafiqul, Picchi Kalam, Saidul, Pada Masud, Faisal gave a confessional statement under section 164 in this case.
On July 22 of that year, the court ordered the trial to begin by forming charges against the accused. During the trial of the case, the court accepted the testimony of 29 people. Besides, five accused gave evidence in their own behalf.
