Another 10 people have testified in the court in the murder case of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, the wife of former police superintendent Babul Akhtar, discussed in Chittagong. A total of 32 people have completed their testimony in the case.
On Monday (November 6), Chittagong’s third additional metropolitan session judge Md. This testimony was taken in the court of Jasim Uddin.
Testified – The then ASI Nazrul Islam, Constable Milton Dey, Private Epic Health Care Officer Sohail Rana and Manager (Administration) Tarek Hossain, Jumaira Holdings Katalganj Manager Atiq Hasan, Caretaker Sahab Uddin, Well Park Hotel Manager Moinul Hasan, Officer Vishwanath Dash, Well Food’s IT Officer Shahidul Alam and employee Alauddin.
So far 32 people have testified in this case. There are 97 witnesses in this case.
Court bench assistant Neshar Ahmed said, 10 people, including police ASI, have been testified in Mitu’s murder case. The examination of 10 witnesses has also been completed. So far 32 people have completed their testimony in the case. The court has fixed November 28 for the next hearing of the case.
According to court sources, a total of 32 people have completed their testimony in this case. At that time Mitu’s husband former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhtar and other accused were present in the court. Among the witnesses, DB ASI Nazrul Islam and Constable Milton Dey collected CCTV footage from various places of the incident and the rest provided CCTV footage and were eyewitnesses.
It is to be noted that on the morning of June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Akhtar Mitu, wife of Babul Akhtar, was stabbed to death on her way to drop off her son in the school bus at Nizam Road in Chittagong city. Mitu’s husband, then Superintendent of Police Babul Akhtar, was staying in Dhaka at the time of the incident. Returning to Chittagong, he filed a case against unidentified persons.
Later, the PBI investigation revealed Babul’s involvement in Mitu’s murder. Mitu’s father Mosharraf Hossain filed a case on this charge on the day of submitting the final report of the case filed by Babul on May 12, 2012, citing Babul Akhter as the main accused. On the same day, Babul was arrested in this case.
