The court has ordered different terms of imprisonment and fine to two accused in two separate cases of gold and phencidil smuggling in Jessore.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Tajul Islam and Jewel Adhikari gave this order on Monday (November 6).
Alamin, the accused in Jessore Masood murder case, is on remand
The convicts are Farooq Hossain, son of deceased Jahabax of Putkhali village, Benapole, and driver Ilyas Sheikh, son of Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, tenant of Maqbul Hossain’s house in Talsari Patbari village.

According to the details of the case, on February 19, 2015, the BGB of Benapole’s Putkhali camp raided Balurmath Khejur Bagan and arrested Farooq Hossain on the basis of secret information. Meanwhile, 9 gold bars were recovered from him. Whose weight is 94 and a half tola. In this incident, BGB Lance Naik Anwarul Haque filed a case under the Smuggling Suppression Act at the Benapole Port Police Station. After the investigation, investigating officer SI Rafiqul Islam filed a charge sheet in the court accusing accused Farooq Hossain of being involved in the incident. After taking the evidence, as the charges against the accused Farooq Hossain were proved, the judge sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and 20 thousand taka fine for 6 months.
On the other hand, on November 8, 2013, the RAB of Jessore conducted a raid in front of the hawk filling station in Kagazpukur, Benapole. When a bus without passengers was stopped, one escaped through the window and the driver Ilyas Shaikh was arrested. By searching the bus in the presence of people, 1 thousand 171 bottles of phensidyl were recovered from a specially made box inside the luggage box. In this incident, RAB SI Bayezid Akon filed a case at Benapole Port police station against the bus driver and two people arrested under the Drug Smuggling Suppression Act. After the investigation, investigating officer SI Ashraful Alam submitted a charge sheet to the court seeking the release of the accused Ilyas Sheikh and the other accused Jahangir Hossain. After taking the testimony, as the charges against the accused Ilyas Sheikh were proved, the judge sentenced him to 5 years rigorous imprisonment and 1 month rigorous imprisonment without paying a fine of 5000 taka.
