A gas cylinder explosion victim died in Rupganj, Narayanganj. The name of the deceased is Sona Uddin. He died at around 7 pm on Monday (November 6) while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Resident doctor of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post. He said that a gas cylinder explosion occurred at a house in Aukhabo area of Rupganj on Friday (November 3) at 1 am. 94 percent of Sona Uddin’s (45) body, 58 percent of Ali Ahmed’s (65), 46 percent of Hasan Banu’s (55), 30 percent of Sahera Begum’s (24), and 15 percent of Omar Farooq’s (15) were burnt. Sona Uddin died today. Except Omar Farooq, the rest of the injured are in serious condition.
Hasun Banu’s nephew took the injured to the hospital. Noore Alam said that they live on the ground floor of that house in Rupganj. Hasun Banu is a housewife, her husband Ali Ahmed and brother Sona Uddin run a dry goods shop in Gauchia Bazaar. Besides, daughter Sahara is disabled and son Omar Farooq works in local Anupam Garments.
He also said that there is not much gas in the line in the house. That’s why they bought gas cylinders. On the day of the incident, when they were sleeping, the cylinder exploded. Immediately after the incident, the neighbors rescued them and took them to a hospital in Narayanganj. When the condition worsened, they were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the middle of the night. However, Hasun Banu’s elder son Formuz (22), a garment worker, survived as he was not at home that day.
