It is important for women to be economically self-reliant in the formation of a welfare state: Deputy Speaker
Pabna, November 6, 2023 (BASS): Bangladesh National Parliament Deputy Speaker Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku said that it is important for women to be economically self-reliant in the formation of a welfare state.
Pointing out that the current government is developing women as entrepreneurs to make them economically independent, he said, ‘If we want to develop Bangladesh as a developed country, then it is very important to develop a hunger-free, poverty-free and functional human resource. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman also thought about the welfare of mankind throughout his life.
The Deputy Speaker said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the Entrepreneurs’ Encouraging Workshop related to ‘Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs at the Grassroots Project’ organized by the National Women’s Organization at Santhia in Pabna on Monday.
Shamsul Haque Tuku said that half of the total population of the country is women. Desired development is not possible by keeping them out of economic activities. Women are now contributing to all sectors of the country based on merit. The current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted a multifaceted plan to facilitate the path of entrepreneurship by utilizing their skills and talent.
He said, Bangabandhu made no distinction between Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. The country became independent with the collective participation of all in the liberation war, so he believed in equal rights for all. Awami League does politics to ensure that all people of the country can eat, regardless of religion, caste, food, treatment and shelter. This was the philosophy of Bangabandhu. He himself never did politics for luxury.
