In Chittagong Mahmuda Akhtar Mitu’s murder case, 10 more witnesses from the seizure list have testified in court.

Testified on Monday: ASI Nazrul Islam, constable Milton Dey, officer of private Epic Health Care Sohel Rana and manager (administration) Tarek Hossain, manager of Jumaira Holdings Katalganj Atiq Hasan, caretaker Sahab Uddin, manager of Well Park Hotel Moinul Hasan, officer Vishwanath gave evidence on Monday. Dash, Well Food’s IT Officer Shahidul Alam and employee Alauddin.
So far 32 people have testified in this case. There are 97 witnesses in this case.
Court bench assistant Neshar Ahmed told bdnews24.com, “Policemen collected CCTV footage from around the crime scene. Some of the buildings where the footage was collected testified as witnesses to the seizure list.
“After the interrogation of all of them, the court fixed November 28 as the next hearing date.”
On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mitu was publicly shot and hacked to death while going to drop her son in the school bus at GEC intersection in Chittagong city. Mitu’s husband former SP Babul Akhtar was transferred from Chittagong a few days before the incident. The murder took place in Chittagong soon after he left to join his workplace in Dhaka.
In January 2020, the PBI got the charge of investigating the case on the orders of the court, after the DB police could not find any clues despite three and a half years of investigation.
Then in May 2021, PBI said that wife Mitu was killed in Babul Akhtar’s ‘plan’. And for this, Babul “gave three lakh taka through people” to the killers.
Later after giving the final report in Babul’s case Mitu’s father filed another case. However, Babul’s case was revived after that case did not reach the court.
PBI submitted the charge sheet in the court on September 13 last year. Seven people including Babul were accused. Then on October 10 last year, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Chittagong accepted the complaint.
