Police recovered the body of an old woman named Chinta Moni (65) buried in the septic tank of her house five days after she went missing in Debiganj of Panchagarh.
On Monday (November 6) in the afternoon, the body was removed from the septic tank in the presence of Debiganj police station in the neighborhood within Debiganj municipality.
Chinta Moni is the wife of Dharani Rishi of Parlokagat Madhyapara of Ward No. 2 of Municipal Town. He lived alone at home. His only daughter Renu lives in Dhaka.
According to police and local sources, Chinta Moni could not be found for the last five days. On Monday, the locals came to the house to inquire and informed the police if they found anything suspicious around the septic tank. Later, when the lid of the septic tank was removed in the presence of the police, it was found filled with soil. Later, when the soil was removed, Chinta Moni’s body was found. Next to the septic tank was the tubewell and cooking stove. The water used in the tube wells used to go to the septic tank.
Debiganj Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Mocha: Runa Laila and Debiganj Municipality Mayor Abu Bakar Siddique visited the spot after receiving the news of the recovery of the body.
Five people have been taken into police custody for questioning in this incident. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debiganj police station Sarkar Iftekharul Mokaddem said, ‘The body will be sent for post-mortem. No one has been arrested yet. We will take legal action in this matter.’
