The court has sentenced a youth to death in the case of the third class student Abu Hurayra in Chuadanga. Along with that, he was fined 50 thousand rupees. In the same case, the other two accused were sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment and 20,000 taka fine for another three months.
Judge Masud Ali of Chuadanga Additional District and Sessions Judge (Second) Court gave the verdict on Monday (06 November) around 12:30 noon. Mohammad Momin (23), sentenced to death, is the son of Shahidul Islam of Taltala village in Chuadanga municipal area. The others sentenced to prison are Parvez Ahmed (28) son of Motaleb Hossain and Ashrafuzzaman Rijon (30) son of Jamat Ali of the same village. Among them, Parvez is absconding.
According to the details of the case, on the afternoon of January 19, 2022, Abu Huraira (11), a third grade student of Victoria Jubilee Government High School, son of Abdul Barek of Taltala village of Chuadanga municipal area, went missing after leaving home for private study. After much searching, Abu Huraira’s father, Abdul Barek, became a plaintiff on January 25 and filed a case with Sadar police station, mentioning the names of five people including Mohammad Momin. Later, the police arrested Momin in a raid. According to the information given by him, the body of Abu Huraira was recovered from a grave in Taltala area on February 14 at around 2 pm. After the investigation of the case, on August 14, 2022, Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station gave a report to the court accusing Momin, Parvez and Ashrafuzzaman.
Giyas Uddin, Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) of the court said, “The judge decided the case after taking the testimony of 13 people. Accused Parvez is absconding among them. A warrant has been issued for his immediate arrest.’
