The court sentenced one person to death and two others to 14 years in prison in the case of the murder of school student Abu Hurair in Chuadanga. Chuadanga additional district and session judge 2nd court judge in the presence of two defendants. Masud Ali announced the verdict. Parvez Ahmed, who has been on bail since the verdict was announced, is absconding.
The judge announced the verdict on Monday (November 6) at noon. The convicts were taken into court custody under police guard.
The convicts are Momin (23) son of Shahidul Islam of Taltala Gorstanpara of Chuadanga Municipal area, Parvje Ahmed (28) son of Motaleb Hossain of Taltala Schoolpara and Ashrafuzzaman alias Reason (30) son of Jamat Ali of Taltala Kutipara.
According to the details of the case, on January 19, 2022, Abu Hurair, son of Abdul Barek of Taltala Gorstanpara of Chuadanga Municipal Area, went to private school in the same neighborhood. As the private did not return home, the family searched but found nowhere. The schoolboy was missing since then. In this incident, the victim’s father filed a kidnapping case at the Sadar police station accusing several people. After that, Sadar Thana police started working to solve the murder mystery. The main accused in the murder case, Momin took the schoolboy Abu Hurair inside the Taltala graveyard. There he was strangled at night and buried in an old grave to hide his body.
With the help of information technology, the police arrested and interrogated Momin in the incident and confessed to the murder and missing the body. After digging a grave pointed out by him, the police recovered the body of the schoolboy on February 13, 2022. Parvje Ahmed and Ashrafuzzaman alias Reason helped Momin to commit this murder.
The investigation officer of the case is Sadar Police Station Inspector Md. Mizanur Rahman filed a charge sheet in court on June 30, 2022 accusing three people.
After taking the testimony of 13 out of 21 witnesses on Monday afternoon, in the presence of Momin and Ashrafuzzaman alias Reason, Chuadanga Additional District and Sessions Judge 2nd Court Judge Md. Masud Ali announced the verdict. In the verdict, Momin was sentenced to death and fined 50 thousand taka. The court sentenced Ashrafuzzaman alias Reason and Parvje Ahmed to 14 years imprisonment. Two people were fined 20,000 taka and sentenced to 3 months without work. Parvaj Ahmed has been absconding since the verdict was announced.
