The students of Shahjahanpur High School of Madhavpur Upazila of Habiganj staged a protest march and human chain to demand the quick arrest and hanging of those involved in the death of Banya Akter, a brilliant student.
Shahjahanpur High School students held a protest march on Monday (November 6) afternoon. At that time, hundreds of students gathered in the Shahjahanpur Union Parishad square in Teliapara market and formed a human chain while chanting slogans with play cards. Along with the students, local people were also present in the human chain which lasted for almost an hour.
Flood’s classmates present in the human chain said that Flood’s death cannot be a natural death. He was killed. They demanded immediate arrest and hanging of those involved in the flood deaths.
Speakers said a group was trying to save the flood killers. They announced that they will start a tough movement if the justice is not given.
Incidentally, Tanim, son of Kamrul Islam Shahjahan of Teliapara village, got married to Banya Akter, a brilliant student of Shahjahanpur High School, daughter of Md. Shanu Mia of South Surma village, 4/5 months ago. It is said that Tanim’s family used to physically and mentally abuse Banya after marriage.
On the night of November 3, Tanim’s brother Taib called Banyan’s brother and told him that there had been an accident. On hearing the news, Banya’s family went to the hospital and found Banya dead. In this incident, Bannya’s father Shanu Mia filed a case in Madhavpur police station accusing Tanim and Taib as defendants.
