A man named Jantu Molla (50) died a day after his mother’s death in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria. This incident took place in Abdullahpur village of South Union of the upazila at around 8 pm on Sunday.
Idris Mia, a member of Akhaura South Union Parishad Ward No. 9, confirmed the death of mother and son to today’s newspaper. He said, ‘Mother’s son died in mourning. This is very tragic. I heard that some other members of the family have fallen ill due to their grief.’
Jantu Mollah is the son of deceased Idris Mollah of Abdullahpur village of South Union. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
Jantu Molla’s younger brother. Harun Miah said, ‘Today (Monday) after the Zohar prayer, the elder brother was buried in the family cemetery. Elder brother died at his home around 8 o’clock on Sunday night.
Local people said that mother Rezia Khatun (70) died of old age last Friday night. Jantu Molla was mourning the death of his mother. Unable to bear the grief, he started lamenting. He died in the meantime.
Local residents Humayun Kabir, Sohag Bhuiyan and Alam Mollah said that Jantu Mollah was a Maa devotee. After her mother’s death on Friday night, she sat beside the body and cried. After burying his mother, he could not bear the grief and started lamenting. Then last Sunday night around 8 o’clock chest pain started. Within a few minutes, he fell into the lap of death.
