The pillars and floor of the Bailey bridge built on Kudumchara next to the mosque in Shafipur area of Tinnong Bengalhalia Union of Rajastali Upazila of Rangamati have been shaken. Despite the risk of accidents, heavy vehicles are running over the bridge.
It has been seen on the ground that the pillar under the Bailey Bridge located next to the Shafipur Mosque has cracked and suddenly burst into tears. Apart from this, the iron foundation of the bridge is rusted and the foundation is also broken. The bridges shake as the car pulls up. In this situation, heavy vehicles are moving over the bridges at risk.
Some drivers in the area said they were afraid to drive because the Bailey Bridge was extremely dangerous. The bridges sway as the car rises.
Adomang Marma, chairman of Bengalhalia Union No. 3, said that the Bailey bridge built on Kudumchara has become dangerous. Accidents can happen at any time. I raised several times in the upazila coordination meeting to renovate the Bailey bridge. But I didn’t get any response.’
President of CNG Association Nurun Nabi said, ‘When the bridge broke, everyone pointed at the vehicles. He blamed the driver. But drivers are not responsible for this. The Bailey Bridge survives in some form. If one breaks, the communication will stop. We are applying to fix the bridge.
In this regard, Rajasthan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shantanu Kumar Dash said, I have heard about the danger of the Beli bridge and have inspected the ground. We have informed the officials of road and township department to keep the traffic normal by setting up the organization or alternative roads.
