A bomb fell in front of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza on Saturday morning. An ambulance had just left the hospital. Many people in the area died on the spot due to the bomb. Al-Shifa Hospital is currently treating Palestinian civilians seriously injured in the war. A Palestinian health organization claimed that another ambulance was ‘targeted’ by Israeli forces a kilometer away from the hospital. At that time, several ambulances left the hospital one after another.

The Israeli military has long claimed that the Palestinian armed group Hamas uses ambulances as a means of transporting weapons. Hamas members also travel in ambulances. That’s why they deliberately bombed the ambulance, Benjamin Netanyahu’s army claims in self-defense.

On the other hand, Hamas said that the ambulance was transporting several patients wounded in the war. As soon as the ambulance left the hospital, a bomb fell on his head.

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza ambulance. He was ‘extremely surprised’ by the incident. “I reiterate, patients, health workers and services like ambulances must be protected in any situation anywhere in the world,” he said.

The Hamas-run Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 16 hospitals in the country had been shut down due to Israeli strikes. In the four weeks of the war, the number of wounded in Gaza is more than 23,500. In Gaza alone, the death toll has exceeded 9,200.
