Entertainment Desk: Today is the birthday of Bengali film’s ‘Playback Samrat’ Andrew Kishore. Sur Samrat was born on 4th November 1955 in Rajshahi. Andrew Kishore’s full name is Andrew Kishore Kumar Barai. He has sung thousands of songs in his illustrious musical career. He is unique in movie songs. That is why he is called the ‘Playback Emperor’ of Bengali cinema.
Born in Rajshahi, Kishore grew up there. Studied at Rajshahi University. The legend initially started taking music lessons under Abdul Aziz Bachchu. After the independence war of Bangladesh, Nazrul Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, modern, folk music and patriotic songs were listed in Rajshahi Betar.
Andrew Kishore made his playback debut in the film ‘Mail Train’ in 1977 with the song ‘Achinpur Rajkumari Nei Je Tar Kew’. ‘There is a story of life, there are few’, ‘Everyone wants love’, ‘Dak diachane dayal amare’, ‘Ved’s daughter Josna has spoken to me’, ‘You are my life and I am your life’, ‘I am fine, stay well’, ‘You are my life’. Bhavna’, ‘Chokh ji Maner Katha Bhale’, ‘Vengeche Pinjar Meleche Dana’, many time-honoured songs were sung by Sur Samrat.
In personal life Lipika is married to Andrew Iti. The couple has two children. The name of the first child is Dhanshi and the name of the second child is Saptak. He got sky-high fame by singing. He also won many awards. As the best singer, he has been awarded the National Film Award eight times, Bacchus Award five times and Meril Prothom Alo Award twice.
The legendary singer passed away on July 6, 2020.
