Jessore: A person named Zia Fakir (40) was killed in a bomb (cocktail) attack by terrorists in Jessore’s Abhaynagar upazila.
The incident took place in Ranagati village of Suborara union of Abhaynagar upazila at around 10 pm on Friday (03 November).
The deceased Zia Fakir is the son of deceased Wahab Fakir of the same area.
According to the police, the deceased Zia was a member of the banned extremist group. Abhaynagar police station has four cases in his name including murder.
According to police and local sources, Zia Fakir was sitting in a tea shop at a place called Uttarpara Masjid Madrasa Battala of Ranagati village at night. At around 10 pm some miscreants bombed him. A bomb exploded in his body and he died on the spot.
According to local sources, Zia Fakir, son of Wahab Fakir of Ranagati village, has a force. It is known as Zia Army. He has several cases of murder under his name. Zia Fakir fled to Dhaka for a long time. He returned to the area three months ago.
Abhaynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ABM Mehdi Masud said that someone had shot a cocktail at him. The cocktail exploded in his stomach and he died on the spot. Zia was a member of an extremist group. He has at least four cases to his name. It is not known at this time who and why the bombing was carried out.
