Community Policing Day-2023 is being celebrated across the country on Saturday (November 4). Community policing is a people-oriented, preventive and problem-solving policing system. It is an organization-based philosophy and management, which involves people and police to reduce the fear of crime and solve various problems in the society.
Apart from this, discussion about cooperation of school/college students in police work, creation of anti-crime awareness, prevention of child marriage, prevention of eve-teasing, suppression of militancy, suppression of terrorism, ill effects of drugs, abuse of women and children, prevention of dowry, misuse of mobile phones, promotion of social values etc. is done
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Police-Janata Oikya Kari, Build Smart Bangladesh’.
Police-public interaction through ongoing community policing activities has increased public confidence, participation, cooperation and partnership in police work. There are 8 lakh 94 thousand 206 community policing members in 49 thousand 529 committees across the country to implement community policing activities.
Notable programs on the day include rallies, discussions, awarding of awards to the best community policing members.
According to police headquarters sources, today the day will be celebrated in all the metropolitan, range, district police, specialized industrial police, highway police, railway police and related units of Bangladesh Police.
