The accident happened inside the Karnaphuli Bangabandhu tunnel. The accident took place on Friday night when a speeding bus hit a private car from behind. The rear of the car was twisted and almost crashed. At that time, four passengers of the private car survived the terrible accident but they were injured.
It is learned that a private car was rammed by a bus from behind after entering the tunnel from the Anwara end. The car crashed. Then the security personnel of the tunnel impounded the two vehicles.
Earlier on October 30, a Prado lost control and rammed the tunnel railing at the Toll Plaza area at the Anwara end. This causes damage to the railings and the car involved in the accident.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel on Saturday, October 28. The tunnel was opened for public traffic from the next morning.
On the same day, a group of reckless youths disobeyed the rules by leaving the convoy at a reckless speed inside the tunnel. Videos of them car racing in Hollywood style went viral on social media. There was widespread anger, surprise and criticism among the public.
In this incident, a case has been filed against the unknown driver with the number of seven private cars at Karnaphuli police station.
