The second part of the metro rail is going to be inaugurated today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the second phase of the metro rail from Agargaon to Motijheel on Saturday (November 4) at noon. However, it will take time until next January to be fully operational.
Initially, the metro rail will run for four hours from Motijheel to Uttara. Metrorail will run on this route from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm. It will take 31 minutes to travel from Motijheel to Uttara. It will stop at Farmgate, Secretariat and Motijheel stations en route.
However, if it is fully operational next January, passengers will be able to use all the stations from morning to night.
Initially not all trains go up to Motijheel but it will be specified as per number. According to this, passengers can understand which train will go where.
Metro will run from Agargaon to Uttara North from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM. However, train movement will be stopped from 11:30 am on Motijheel-Agargaon section. Besides, the metro will be closed on Friday.
Train schedule will gradually increase when new stations are opened. 20 sets of metros will stop at the stations every four minutes. However, the TSC station will be operational within a few weeks. If fully operational, five lakh passengers will be able to travel on this metro rail every day.
Passengers can collect Metrorail tickets according to the distance from the station’s automatic machines or counters. Passengers can also collect an MRT pass by depositing Tk 400. Out of this, passengers will get a recharge of Tk 200 and security deposit Tk 200.
Passengers can pay the fare according to the distance traveled with this card. If the card is returned, the security deposit of Tk 200 will be refunded. Passengers will also get ten percent discount on this card. It will also solve the trouble of buying tickets repeatedly and save time.
Meanwhile, the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Police Unit has been formed to ensure the security of the Metrorail. This police unit will take care of metro rail infrastructure, stations and passenger safety.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first phase of metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon on December 28 last year.
