Inauguration of Agargaon-Motijheel section

The metro rail was scheduled to run on Saturday after the weekly shutdown on Friday in the capital, but it has been kept closed. As a result, today (November 4) city dwellers will not be able to travel by metro rail.
The matter was informed in a press release signed by Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman, Sub-Project Director (Mass Communication) of Rapid Transit Line-6 (MRT Line-6) last November 1.
According to the notification, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate MRT Line-6 from Agargaon to Motijheel section. He will also inaugurate the construction work of MRT Line-5 i.e. metro rail from Hemayetpur to Bhatara in Dhaka from the same event.
Metro rail services will be closed on November 4 for the smooth completion of the inauguration ceremony. Metrorail authorities sincerely regret the temporary inconvenience to passengers.
It is also said that the metro rail will operate on the Uttara-Agargaon route from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm on November 5. On the other hand, the Agargaon-Motijheel route will run for a total of 4 hours only from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.
Bangladesh’s first Metrorail MRT Line-6 Uttara to Agargaon section was launched in December last year. The government is implementing the fast track project of constructing 21.26 km elevated metro line from Uttara to Kamalapur at a cost of Tk 33 thousand 472 crore.
