The husband has been accused of stabbing his wife to death due to a family dispute in Pirojpur city. The incident took place in Machimpur area of Pirojpur city on Thursday (November 2) evening.
The deceased Laiju Begum (35) is wife of Rajib Khan (38) of Machimpur area of Pirojpur city and daughter of Mustafa Sheikh of Kalikathi village of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. Soon after the incident, the accused husband Riaz Khan ran away.
Accused Riaz Khan is the son of Sohrab Khan of Machimpur area of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. He is a construction worker by profession.
Sakil Sheikh, the brother of deceased Laiju, said that there was a family dispute between his sister Laiju and her husband Riaz. As a result of that dispute, her sister called her later on Thursday evening and told her that Riaz had stabbed her in the stomach with a knife. He later went to the hospital to find his sister Laizou dead.
Doctor on duty of Pirojpur district hospital. Md. Sakil Sarwar said that when the police took a woman named Laiju to the hospital with serious abdominal injuries, she died as soon as the first aid was started.
Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abir Mohammad Hossain said that the police recovered the body and inspected the scene. Efforts are on to arrest the person involved in the incident and legal action is being taken in this regard.
