Today, November 4 is National Constitution Day. After independence, the Constitution of Bangladesh was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1972 and came into effect on December 16 of the same year. The Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is the supreme law of the independent and sovereign state of Bangladesh. The government declared November 4 as ‘National Constitution Day’ on the golden jubilee of the constitution last year. On the occasion of the day, the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has organized a seminar at 11 am at Hotel Radisson Blue Water Garden in the capital.
Speaker of the National Parliament will be present as the chief guest. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque will preside over the seminar. President gave a separate message on the occasion of Constitution Day. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In his speech, the President said, ‘I hope that by observing the National Constitution Day, the people of this country will be aware of their rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution and that the members of the executive department, legal department and judicial department of the state will properly follow the provisions of the constitution in every aspect of their duties.’ In his speech, the Prime Minister said, ‘The formulation of the constitution in a very short period of independence to ensure democracy and the rule of law under the far-reaching and strong leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is of great significance in Bengali national life.’
