Bengali film’s ‘Playback Emperor’ Andrew Kishore’s birthday is today (November 04). He was born on this day in 1955 in Rajshahi.
Andrew Kishore’s full name is Andrew Kishore Kumar Barai. He started taking music training at the age of six. His father is Khitish Chandra Barai and mother Minu Barai. Mother was a music lover, fan of Kishore Kumar. Named the child ‘Kishore’ after the favorite artist.
Andrew Kishore entered the music industry to fulfill his mother’s dream. After the independence war of Bangladesh, he was enrolled in Nazrul, Rabindra, folk music and patriotic songs section of Rajshahi Betar. Some of his most popular songs include- ‘Jeevan Katha Chai Baki Chak’, ‘Hayre Mansoor Rangan Fanus’, ‘Dak Diyachan Dayal Amare’, ‘Amar Sara Deh Kheyo Go Mati’, ‘Amar Bukka Madhyakhane’, ‘Amar Baba Muka Pratham Jedin’. ‘, ‘Bhenche pinjar meleche dana’, ‘Everyone wants love’ etc.
Andrew Kishore became famous as a film music artist. In 1977, he sang for the first time in the movie ‘Mail Train’ in the tune of Alam Khan. However, his voice spread to the audience through the song ‘Ek Chor Jai Chali’ from the 1979 movie ‘Pratijna’. In all, Andrew Kishore won the National Film Award eight times. Apart from this, he received numerous awards including Bacchus Award five times and Merrill-Prothom-alo Award twice.
He died on July 6, 2020. However, Andrew Kishore still returns as a favorite singer of many listeners. The audience’s love for him seems to be increasing.
