Community Policing Day-2023 will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday (November 4). This year’s theme of the day is ‘Police-People Unite, Build Smart Bangladesh’.
According to a press release sent by the police headquarters, the notable programs of Community Policing Day-2023 include rallies, discussion meetings, awarding of awards to the best community policing members, etc.
The day will be celebrated in all Metropolitan, Range, District Police, Specialized Industrial Police, Highway Police, Railway Police units of Bangladesh Police.
Community policing is an organization-based philosophy and management-based approach to reducing the fear of crime and solving various problems in society based on the partnership between the people and the police. It is a people oriented, preventive and problem solving policing system.
As part of community policing activities, school/college students are assisted in police work, creating awareness against crime, prevention of child marriage, prevention of eviction, suppression of militancy, suppression of terrorism, evil of drugs, abuse of women and children, prevention of dowry, misuse of mobile phones, promotion of social values etc. is discussed about.
Police-public interaction through ongoing community policing activities has increased public confidence, participation, cooperation and partnership in police work.
There are eight lakh 94 thousand 206 community policing members in 49 thousand 529 committees across the country to implement community policing activities.
