Photo: Today’s Newspaper3 people, including a woman, were injured in a collision between a private car and a bus that lost control in the Bangabandhu tunnel. The accident took place in the tunnel at around 9 pm on Friday. The private car was overturned. The names and addresses of the injured were not known till the writing of this report.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel Project Assistant Engineer (Toll and Traffic) Tanveer Rifa confirmed the incident to today’s newspaper.
Eyewitnesses of the incident said that on the way from Anwara end of the tunnel to Patenga, a bus came at a reckless speed inside the tunnel and rammed the private car from behind. At that time, 3 passengers including a woman in the private car were seriously injured. Later the bus driver fled.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel Project Assistant Engineer (Toll and Traffic) Tanveer Rifa said that the private car and the bus involved in the accident have been impounded. We visited the spot. There was no damage to the tunnel. The injured have been sent to hospital for treatment. The injured were not immediately identified. Further legal action is being taken.’

In the video spread on social media, it can be seen that a passenger bus is running through the tunnel. There is a white colored private car in front of the bus. At one stage the driver could not control the speed and hit the car. At this time, the rear part of the car was twisted. Later, the bus and the car were seized by the security personnel of the tunnel.
