The court granted six-day remand to BNP Standing Committee member Ameer Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and media cell convener Zahir Uddin Swapan.

The court granted the remand in the case filed in the incident of the death of a police constable in the clash in Fakirapool area centered on the BNP rally.

They were produced in court on Friday (November 3). After that, for the sake of proper investigation of the case, the investigating officer requested to take them on 10-day remand, Inspector of DB of Motijheel Zone, Tariqul Islam.

On the other hand, pro-BNP lawyers held a hearing seeking cancellation of their remand and bail. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi’s court granted them a six-day remand.

Earlier, DB Police arrested Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury from a house in Gulshan around 1 am on Thursday (November 2). Besides, BNP media cell convener and former MP Zahir Uddin Swapan was arrested from a house in Gulshan.

On October 29, sub-inspector Masuk Mia filed a murder case at Paltan Model Police Station in the capital. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was made the main accused in the case.

Besides, 164 people including top leaders of BNP were accused in the case. The notable accused in this case are Mirza Abbas, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdus Salam, Nipun Roy, Aminul Haque, Juba Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku.
