The police have filed a case against 46 named accused in Sadar police station in connection with the sabotage of BNP during the hartal. Asaduzzaman (50), son of Harun Or Rashid of Khanpur Branch Road area, has been made the 21st accused in the case. Allegations of violence and disruption of government work were brought on the day of the hartal.
However, local Awami League leaders say that Asaduzzaman was never involved in BNP politics. Although he does not hold the title of Awami League, he is a worker and supporter of Awami League. In the last Nashik elections, Mayor Ivy was the polling agent and in-charge of Ward No. 11 of Nashik. Many have expressed surprise that the Awami League worker has been implicated in the BNP case.
On October 30, Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Sadar Police Station filed a case against 46 people as the plaintiff. A total of 4 incidents have been highlighted in the case. Some people have already been arrested in the case. However, local Awami League leaders have questioned the role of the police after seeing the names of Awami League workers and supporters in the BNP case.
Ward number 11 Awami League leader and former district committee member Shamsuzzaman Bhashani said, ‘Asaduzzaman is a very good boy. He is the President of Polster Club of Khanpur, Secretary of Mosque Committee. social person He never did BNP and there is no question of involvement in sabotage. Mayor Ivy knows him well. He was the mayor’s polling agent in the Nashik elections and worked for boats. I am the panchayat member of my ward, no one knows better than me who is Awami League and who is BNP. I can guarantee as the leader of the district Awami League that he is not associated with BNP.’
A top leader of Mahanagar Jubo League claimed that he was framed in the case in a hostile manner. He said on condition of anonymity, ‘Asad never made BNP. He heads the Pollster Club. There is competition among many for this club. His opponents may have given this name to embarrass him. He was always a supporter of Awami League.
On the same issue, a former committee secretary of the district Awami League said, ‘Asaduzzaman is an activist of the Awami League. He is busy with social activities. He doesn’t care about politics. He worked for the mayor in the last city election. I think there has been a conflict with someone local after being promoted to the post of councillor. From there, he has been involved in this case to get rid of him.
Meanwhile, Asaduzzaman’s phone has been switched off since the case.
Additional Superintendent of Police (A Circle) of the district said, ‘Well, I got to know the matter from you. This will be looked into.’
