A motorcycle rider died in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Nawabganj

A tribal named Nitai Mahato (37) died in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Dinajpur’s Nawabganj. His wife Surbhi Mardi was seriously injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at Dalardarga Qaim Uddin Haziran Memorial Hospital.
The accident took place at Bajitpur on the Dinajpur-Ghoraghat highway around 7:30 pm on Friday. The deceased Nitai Mahato is the son of Abhiram Mahato of Kashpur village of Panchbibi upazila. The injured Surbhi Mardi is a Silik Mardi girl from Birampur Dhanjuri area.
Police and locals said, in the evening, he was going to Ghoraghat with his wife on a motorcycle from Birampur. Meanwhile, a motorcycle collided head-on with a Dinajpur-bound passenger bus leaving Ghoraghat. When the husband and wife were seriously injured, the locals rescued them and took them to Dalardarga Qaim Uddin Haziran Memorial Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Nitai dead. His wife Surbhi Mardi (25) is undergoing treatment at Dalardarga Qaim Uddin Haziran Memorial Hospital.
Nawabganj Police Inspector (Investigation) Moniruzzaman Momin said that the body of a tribal man named Nitai Mahato was recovered from the road accident. In this incident, the wife of the deceased is under treatment in the hospital with serious injuries. On behalf of the deceased’s family, preparations are underway for a case under the Road Transport Act.
